①Mr.Jeff

 The first poem describes a moment when I took the first English lesson in kindergarten. I was in the kindergarten’s hall after lunchtime. Mr.Jeff, a foreign teacher, came hall with a big and black suitcase. He was tall and fat, but he was not scary. In the suitcase, there was a lot of toy of food. He said food’s name in a loud voice while taking out the toy. Student repeated the name. English words sounded in the hall. Everyone looked very happy.

②Rhythm game in electricity school

 The second poem describes a moment when I took the class in electricity school. I was third grade. I stayed at classroom with my classmates. Ms.Isoda, a English teacher, came to our classroom. We played a lot of games. For example, self-introduction, isutori game, interview and so on. At first, everyone was nervous, but a smile gradually came out. Students enjoyed the game by moving their bodies and making voices. I also sang a song in English. Everyone opened up a big mouth and sang, it was very lively. 

③Talk with ALT

 The third poem describes a moment when I talked with ALT for the first time. I was forth grade. After English class, I went to ALT with my friends and spoke to ALT. She is a women and has short blond hair, blue eyes and slim body. We asked about her hometown and whatever she likes. She lowered her waist and tried to understand our English. The attitude made me happy. I enjoyedtalking with her very much. My friends seemed happy. I think that I was glad to speak with courage.

 The fourth poem describes a moment when I listened to English songs in junior high school. I was in my classroom and teachers brought a CD player. Teachers said “Let’s listen to music.” Teachers played a music. Because the song was famous, I heard it. The teachers distributed a blank space replenishment print. We listened to a song filling in the blanks. When a song heard in an English lesson flowed on TV, I could sing as I understood the lyrics. This experience became confident. I wanted to know more English songs.

⑤ Get a seal

 The fifth poem describes a moment when I got seals in junior high school. I was in my classroom. In an English lesson, I got a seal when I made a statement. Students competed for the number of remarks to get a seal. So the lesson was very lively. Everyone raised their hands when the teacher asked, “Is there anyone who can answer?” Students thought well and said, in order to get a seals. Thanks to the seal, the atmosphere was easy to say during class. Moreover, I think that students’ motivation was also raised. Students enjoyed thinking and speaking in an English lesson.

 The sixth poem describes a moment when I took a speaking test in junior high school. In my school, there was a speaking test at the time of intermediate and final exam. We had to make a speach on a subject. I prepared the manuscript in advance for the speaking test and remembered. When it became my turn and called by the teacher, my head became pure white with tension. I stood in front of everyone and remembered hard. I didn’t remember things during the speaking test very well, but I’m glad I ended it.

 The seventh poem describes a moment when I received Eiken for the first time in junior high school. I took the fifth grade in one classroom. I was very nervous because it was my first experience. Students who were in the classroom were also nervous, and the classroom was very quiet. Everyone moved the pencil all at once as soon as they got a signal of moving the pencil. However, I hardly thought and read English. I was able to finish my knowledge. I can not forget this tension. It was special experience for me.

 The eighth poem describes a moment when suddenly I can not understand English in high school. I was taking an English class in the classroom on the first floor. The teacher commented on various things, but I did not know what to say. When I was a junior high school student I was good at English. Therefore, the shock which I did not understand was great. I did not understand English and I wanted to get out of the classroom. However, I liked my English teacher so I decided to do my best for the teacher.

 The ninth poem describes a moment when I took a weekly test in high school. I had a word test every day. Learning English words of about ten pages every week was hard. Therefore, the students could not catch up with their studies. Students seriously memorised in English word books during the break before the test. Everyone’s feeling of tension was transmitted so much that I was nervous. I remembered English even on the train. I studied but I could not get full marks. I tried my best to study with this regret.

 The tenth poem describes a moment when I studied English and learned the enjoyment of learning English. I read many introductions and stories in English at high school. I learned other knowledge besides English knowledge by English teaching materials. I did not notice this until I was a high school student. For example, the history of Ashura was made and the history of countries such as Singapore. Knowledge learned in English is more memorable that what we learned in subjects such as society. Because I learn about this, learning English became fun.

 My name is Minori Igarashi. This name is named from the proverb. Reflects the wish of my parents that I would become a humble person.  I live in Isesaki, but I was born in Takasaki. I am nineteen years old. I am second year Gunma university student and majoring in Japanese. I have studied English for ten years. When I was junior high school student, I belonged to tennis club. I didn’t win any matches, but I enjoyed playing tennis. When I was high school student, I belonged to tea ceremony club and I studied hard. My high school is girls’ school. Everyone is very active and fun. Now, I am enjoying university life.

2.Explanation of a theme of the book

 The theme of the poem is English learning. The connection among ten poems is impressive from the perspective of various emotions. One poem describes a moment when I was very happy. The other poem describes a moment when I was confused and got nervous. English learning is mixed  with enjoyment and hardship. While tense and confused, I also worked on English learning. There are games and songs as fun activities. I enjoyed singing English songs. However, not everything was fun. Eiken and speaking test was difficult for me. I studied English while withstood various difficulties. I still think that I will study  hard for English.
